(10/14/99) Well, okay... so the site was gone for a few months. It certainly wasn't my fault.
At first it was the server the site used to be on. Did what I could to get it moved to the place that that server was moving
to, but for reasons beyond me, strongestman.com did not go along with the rest of the server. So, finally I got it moved to
a different server. Not done yet. My dealings with InterNIC (network solutions) to get the address of the site and the
administrative contacts changed were quite horrific, and only this week were they finally resolved. Anyway, during the time
it was down, WSM 1999 came and went, with Jouko Ahola winning again. I don't have too much info on it, as I focused most of my
efforts on having this site rather than the content of a site that no longer existed. I'm working on getting stuff
normal again... we'll see.
(7/28/99) I just received info today about the 1999
East Coast Stronman Challenge. It will be held in Virginia on Spet. 25. For more info,
go http://www.exis.net/physiquetraining.
(7/27/99) I've committed myself to putting some new stuff on here to keep the site interesting
so all you people still have a reason to show up! It's tough to keep up the old standard of updates I set when I first started
because I had so much free time then... but, I have managed to get a couple new things going today. First, I've set up a
WSM message forum that I think everyone can have a good time with. I'll have to
see how it works out. You can post whatever ideas, opinions, or comments you want there and hopefully we'll get some good discussions
started.
I've also started working on a WSM Training and Workouts section. I haven't got anything there at the
moment, but I soon will as I am doing my best to get some training overviews from some of today's best competitors since that's
one of the biggest requests I've been getting recently for the site. I suppose that's about all for now... but keep an eye out
for these new sections, as they'll hopefully be growing rapidly.
(6/18/99) Well, I know it's been a long time since I've updated the site, and I apologize.
Since the semester got out, I've been on tour with my band from time to time so I haven't been around too much. I did, however,
find out from IronMind that the 1999 WSM will be held in Malta from September 4th to the 20th.
Once again, it's not someplace that I can make it out too very easily going to college full time, so I'll have to be covering it
from long distance again. Oh well... maybe one of these days the organizers will bring it back to New Jersey like in the early 80's!
I've been thinking about writing a guestbook program when I get the time so I can have that feature up again. I'm sure I'll get around to
it, but who knows when? Also, if anyone knows of a good program for a message board that I can run off of my server without using
one of those annoying free internet guestbook services, please let me know. I'd love to have a good discussion board running here.   -Bill
(4/30/99) Okay... so this is a big pain in the ass. My computer was *DESTROYED* by the Chernobyl virus 4 days ago and
I lost all my stuff. Including the WSM mailing list that I'd been keeping for the past couple of years... There were probably 500-600 e-mail adresses on it
when it was lost, and now I need you all to sign up again. Sorry, but there's not much else I can do. I may be able to get part of the list back (probably about
a year out of date) but that's all... so if you've ever been on the mailing list, you need to sign up again.
(4/1/99) Anyone on the East Coast of the U.S. interested in seeing Mangus Ver Magnusson or Harold Collins can
catch them in New York City this weekend at the upcoming NY Auto Show. The 2 will be having a car pulling race. The show opens on
Sat 4/3, and the race was in the paper to start at 9 a.m. There is more info
on the New York Auto Show web page. (Thanks to Owen Quinn for info)
(2/21/99) I've been more than occupied since I moved into school in Trenton last month,
so I've gotten almost no chance to do much with the page... I've still managed to update the
TV schedule and some other things since the 98 competition has been airing in the US now (although I have missed quite a few of the airings on ESPN!).
I've spent a lot of time enhancing the main site with Java today and it seems to be working well. I don't know when I'll be
able to upload the changes because the server's FTP and Telnet access isn't working, so we'll see when that gets done.
Check out the WSM 1998 results for the tabulations dictated by the programs that have been
airing this past month. I think that's all for now!
(12/22/98) Elco got his chance to get together with Berend Veneberg and got his interview done. Again, it came out real well
and he got some good pictures, so check it out. We're still looking to get some more interviews done in the not-too-distant future, so
we'll see what we can get.
(12/13/98) Magnus Ver Magnusson called me yesterday and let me know that he's got his own website now, which is
still being built, but it's up with some photos and some information about him. You can check it out at http://www.xnet.is/magnusver/.
(11/29/98) Elco just got the chance to meet with Wout Zijlstra in the Netherlands and put up a great interview
and a whole bunch of great pictures. So, check out the Wout Zijlstra interview. He should be meeting with Berend Venerberg
later this week for yet another interview session, so keep your eyes open on the site for that addition.
(10/24/98) As you may have seen on the BodyTech Fitness page, Svend Karlsen has been selling "Viking Power" t-shirts
as well as some photographs. You can now find info on Svend's merchandise here at StrongestMan.COM.
(10/18/98) The finals have ended in Morocco, and of the five uninjured, and otherwise healthy
competitors left, Sweden's Magnus Samuelsson is the new champion. For more information, go to the WSM 1998 section.
(10/12/98) The qualifying heats for WSM 1998 are over and now just the ten finalists are left.
For information on who qualified and what went on, go to the WSM 1998 section.
(10/04/98) The 1998 WSM finals are being held in Tangier, Morocco. The international qualifying heats
will be October 8-11, and the finals will be held October 15-18. See WSM 1998 section for info.
(09/28/98) The results of 2 new contests have been added in the Other Contests section. They
are for the 1998 Atlantic Grand Prix and the 1998 World's Strongest Team. New information has also been added about the upcoming
WSM 1998 contest.
