Comments: Great job on your web-site Bill. We had a awesome time in Nevada at the W.S.M. Competition. I guess more and more fans want to know who won, but we can't tell them yet. However, no matter who won, Heinz Ollesch is number 1# in my book. What I do want to mention to fans (is my opinion) of the organizers! The organizers treat the WSM less like a sport and more like a spectacle. Having to compete in the middle of the Nevada desert with sand blowing in your eyes dosen't show any consideration for the athletes! If money is a key issue and it usually is, from a pure selfish position, where was the advertising? If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed how poorly the athletes are treated. Maybe if the WSM is held in the USA more often, new sponsors will help deter the high cost and allow the athletes to receive bigger prize money. Then again, as an athlete, I would rather see a fair competition, reasonable time to warm-up for the competitors, and have the video people (ESPN2 & the BBC) work around the athletes and events, like they do in football, baseball & basketball. If they miss a shot,(photo)that's their problem, let the athletes do their thing, ok! And to Heinz Ollesch, thanks for autographing my weight-lifting belt during the deadlift event at the Primadonna Resort Casino. Your the best, God Bless, see ya next year Heinz! Again, great job Bill, keep in touch, be strong! Scott, the Highlander

Comments: 1997 WSM competition in Primm was awesome!! I know I can't say who won but it came down to the last exciting event. I give the competitors alot of credit for having to compete under such crappy conditions, ala the Desert behind Whiskey Pete's. I also think that WSM has some of the most devoted fans because not many people would stand around for 2 hours in a dust storm just to see car rolling! (I did and it was well worth it!) Overall, WSM was a great experience and a cool way to meet other people who love the sport as well like Bill H. and Scott, the Highlander. Also Derek (who I didn't meet) had some awesome signs honoring Magnus ver, whose presence was sorely missed. I definitely encourage any and all fans to check out the event next year. It was really great! LONG LIVE MAGNUS!!

Comments: There have been and will be many great strongmen. I have watched WSM over the years and firmly believe the strongest man ever to appear on that show was "The Kaz". As far as strength and athleticism there is no beating Magnus Ver Magnusson. Other great include ; Jon Pall, Gerritt and Don Reinhold but they are second tier to Kaz and Magnus. I ask myself why they are superior to men much larger than themselves. I strongly believe it is mental. When Gerritt was once asked who would win between Riki and Magnus he answered Magnus while pointing at his temple, not his bicep. They are all superior athletes and I admire Riki, Gary, O.D. and all the rest but there can be only one best - Bill Kazmeier!

Comments: I caught WSM on TV last night for the first time since my trip to Primm. I found so many new strongmen to cheer for there that I had begun to question my love for Magnus. I wondered if I was just riding the bandwagon. But after seeing him on TV last night I realized that wasn't the case. Even though he didn't win either competition they showed last night ('92 & '93), it was clear to me that he was The Man. Let's face it, everyone, Magnus kicks ass. One other thing. The last time I posted to this guestbook, I ripped on Riku Kiri for having no game. I didn't realize at the time that he was injured. I saw him in Primm, cheering on Juoko Ahola. I could never root for Riku over Magnus, but I have a lot more respect for him now.

Comments: I read that the WSM competitions are turning more and more into a media-circus, which is very disappointing to hear. Also here in the Netherlands, the Strongest Man of Holland is just one big commercial. The competitors have to wait for commmercials to start or end, and only then can they perform. But commercials and phsyching yourself up dont also go hand in hand. I hope that in the future the competitions will be become again what they originally were: Pure strength events, for real athletes. And please: no more commercial influences!! Concentrate on the sport, and not on the TV or Network around it!!
