We were both contenders on the American Gladiators TV show. Berend did very well in his show. We all laughed as three of the gladiators attempted to drag the huge Dutchman down in a game of "powerball". Berend is the kind of guy that you want in your corner. He helped me through winning my semi-finals show, and supported me in the finals. I returned the favor by visiting him in Holland for the strongest man in the Netherlands competition. It was very exciting to be there! Although we haven't spoken since, I was proud to see that he placed 5th in the world's in 1993. If anyone out there has the opportunity to meet Berend, I encourage you to!

The schedule never seemed to agree with what was posted and publicized at the hotel. Not exactly the way to get lots of people to come out to "The desert behind Whiskey Pete's" in the middle of nowhere and cheer on our favorite sport. All in all, though, I would definitely go see it again.
